Clausura 2017 Quarterfinals Game 2 Results: Guadalajara 1, Atlas 0

The second game of the cross-town Battle of Guadalajara today was another exciting affair between the two rivals, and again a closely fought game with Guadalajara taking the home win this time 1-0. Orbelin Pineda scored the only goal right before halftime. The Chivas had a second goal denied by a fuera de lugar in the 2nd half, but both sides had numerous near-misses. Although the total for the 2-game series was a 1-1 tie, with both scoring home goals, by virtue of being the higher finisher in the standings the Chivas advance to the semifinals. Now they wait to see who they will play next-if Tijuana advances Guadalajara will next play Toluca. If Morelia advances the Chivas get Monarcas. Either way they are the lucky dogs in that they will avoid Tigres for now.
