The second half of the Monterrey-Tigres matchup went much like the first, which is good for Tigres but bad for everyone else-the champs continued their last-season surge with a 2-0 win at Monterrey. It was all Andre-Pierre Gignac as the French striker’s late-season surge continued with him scoring both goals today, giving him 4 in 2 games. All the Rayados could do was handicap themselves for the start of next year, if not because of SEVEN (!) Amarillas-more in just this game than Tigres goals in both games!-then because in the 22nd minute Carlos Kenny got a Rojas! HE GONE! Then after Gignac’s first goal Gustavo Lima got himself a Rojas! HE GONE! 2 Tigres goals and Monterrey was down 2 men too! It’s yet another disappointing ending for Antonio Mohammed’s squad after a solid second half. Because of the expulsions they will also start next year without their trainer & assistant coach. As for Tigres, they now wait for tomorrow night to find out who they will play in the semifinals. If Tijuana advances Tigres will play them. If Morelia advances Tigres will play either the Atlas-Guadalajara winner or the Toluca-Santos winner.
