Clausura 2017 Round 17 Results: Tigres 5, Queretaro 1

The good news or bad news, depending on how you look at it, is the playoffs are all but set and the Tigres of old are back. With their playoff hopes on the line, the champs made a big-time statement with a 5-1 walkover over Queretaro. In his biggest statement since the Apertura playoffs, Andre-Pierre Gignac returned to his postseason form in style, completing the 3rd hat trick of the second half to power the Tigres offense, with the other Tigres goals coming from Luis Rodriguez & Ismael Sosa. Only a Camilo Da Silva second half goal kept the hosts from being shut out. With the win, Tigres clinches a playoff berth, moves into the #6 spot for now, and also eliminates Leon & Necaxa from the playoffs before their games even begin. If the playoffs started now, that means Tigres would play Atlas. Now only 1 spot is left up for grabs, and everyone else’s playoff hopes hinge on the America-Pachuca outcome tonight.
