Wednesday night marked the latest highlight of Guadalajara’s solid second half, as the Chivas edged out Morelia at home to win the Copa MX Clausura 2017 Championship. The game ended in a 0-0 tie after regulation and extra time, but the Chivas outscored Monarcas 3-1 in penalty kicks to win the title. It’s the second time Guadalajara has won the Copa MX-they also won the Apertura 2015 title-in their 3rd overall final in the last 2 years, which comes after their finals loss to Queretaro last time around. This also is the 3rd title the Chivas have won under coach Matias Almeyda, following the previous Copa win and also the 2015-2017 SUPERCOPA MX. Now Guadalajara will look to add the Liga MX Clausura 2017 title to their haul, as they enter Round 15 in 3rd place and in excellent position to clinch a playoff spot this weekend.
