Clausura 2017 Round 12 Results: Atlas 3, Tijuana 3

In the first game of the closing stretch without coach Miguel Herrera, the Tijuana offensive machine didn’t miss a beat. But their defense remained their weakness as usual, as they missed a chance to regain ground on the lead by being held to a 3-3 tie at Atlas. Gustavo Alustiza put Atlas on the board first in the 11th minute with the first of 2 goals he scored, but Aviles Hurtado answered in the 13th minute with the first of his own pair of goals, then putting Tijuana ahead in the 37th minute. Not to be outdone, Atlas’ Jose Maduena scored the equalizer just 3 minutes later. In the second half, Milton Caraglio converted a PENAL! in the 59th minute to give Tijuana a 3-2 lead, but 4 minutes later Alustiza returned the favor on an Atlas PENAL! to make it 3-3. Then things got chippy starting in the 72nd minute, when Tijuana’s Jorge Ortiz threw a nice shoulder block to take down an Atlas attacker with the ball-but this isn’t American football so instead of a flag he gets a Rojas! HE GONE! After both sides got a handful of Amarillas a few minutes later, Atlas had a chance to possibly win on another PENAL! in the 87th minute but Alustiza couldn’t complete the hat trick and that’s how it ended.
