Clausura 2017 Round 8 Results: Puebla 3, Toluca 1

Toluca got tripped up today in their efforts to stay ahead of Tijuana at the top of the standings, suffering a 3-1 upset loss at home to Puebla. Pablo Miguez opened the scoring with a 22nd minute header, followed by Jeromino Amione tapping in a save deflection in the 41st minute…oddly followed by Puebla coach Jose Cardozo then getting a Rojas! HE GONE! Don’t know what happened, video I saw just showed him running all the way across the field to exit the game.Pablo Barrientos finally got Toluca on the board with a 75th minute goal to cut it to 2-1, but Francisco Torres put the game out of reach with an 81st-minute clincher. It’s only the second win this tournament for Puebla but with how tight the standings are it gets them back into the playoff race. Toluca also needs to keep an eye on Rubens Sambueza as he now has 4 Amarillas this tournament after picking up another one today-the next one he gets will mean an automatic 1 game suspension.
