Tigres & Morelia came into their matchup today both trying to build on momentum from last week-Tigres trying to get a winning streak going at last as well as offense & Morelia trying to gain more ground on Veracruz & Jaguares in the demotion race. Neither happened as the teams played to a 1-1 tie. Morelia took the lead first when Raul Ruidiaz converted a PENAL! in the 30th minute, but Andre-Pierre Gignac showed more signs of perhaps coming out of his long second-half scoring funk as he got Tigres even in the 70th minute with a goal in his second straight game. Morelia also didn’t help itself by racking up 5 Amarillas-among them was the 4th so far this tournament for Emanuel Loeschbor, meaning his next one costs him a game. Tigres is in the same boat as both their Amarillas today are the 4th each for Anselmo Junior & Guido Pizarro. It’s a good thing Morelia didn’t lose anyone to potential suspension because next week is the real must-win if they are going to have any shot at avoiding demotion-Veracruz.
