Clausura 2017 Round 8 Results: Atlas 2, Leon 0

The crazy standings shake-up continues as 2 teams expected to be on opposite ends of the standings has opposite results-normally demotion-nearing Atlas kept Leon in a surprise last-place spot another week with a 2-0 win at home. The game was scoreless at halftime but Matias Alustiza got Atlas on the board moments into the second half, which was also moments after he entered the game as a substitute. Martin Barragan added the insurance goal in the 62nd minute. It wasn’t all perfect for Atlas-they lost Edgar Zaldivar on a bonehead play in the 87yh minute-with possession of the ball and a Leon player charging for it Zaldivar kicked the ball away and inexplicably slid and spiked the Leon player in the side of the lower leg and was rewarded with Rojas! HE GONE! He slid himself out of the game and next week’s too-and this was only the second game of his career (he just debuted last week). That was fast. Lucky for him Leon couldn’t capitalize on the man advantage for the last 5+ minutes.
