Don’t look now, but all of a sudden Queretaro is white-hot. Literally. Los Gallos Blancos have put together their first winning streak of the second half, easily playing their best game of the tournament tonight in a 4-1 lambasting of Necaxa. Once again Luis Noriega opened the scoring for Queretaro, putting the visitors ahead only 5 minutes in. Edson Puch pulled Necaxa even with a 25th minute header, but just before halftime the rout was on. Hiram Hier became only the second Queretaro player not named Noriega to score this tournament, with the game-winner as the first half ended. The Gallos added further insult right before the end of the game as Yerson Candelo and Edgar Lugo scored back-to-back goals in the 86th & 88th minutes. Although it’s just their second win of the tournament, Queretaro now finds itself only one point out of the top 8 and just 3 points back of the top 4 as a crazy Clausura 2017 continues.
