Tijuana’s 4-game winning streak that took it to the top of the standings ended tonight as it’s offensive machine got surprisingly shot down by Necaxa in a 2-1 home loss. After a very uneventful first half, the second half was all about Claudio Riano, who scored both of Necaxa’s goals in the win to move into a tie for the league lead in goals this tournament. Juan Luceno scored a too-little-too-late goal for Tijuana as the game ended to prevent the shutout. It also was not a very physical game, as there were only 6 total fouls-and just 1 in the second half, and 2 Amarillas, both on Tijuana. It seems Necaxa has really abandoned the style of play that got them to the playoffs in the first half, but it’s only yielded 2 wins so far including tonight.
