Clausura 2017 Round 5 Results; Toluca 1, Tigres 0

Tigres’ inexplicable offensive funk continued last night in a heated 1-0 home loss to Toluca, which saw the teams combine for 5 cards in the last 15+ minutes. Rubens Sambueza scored the only goal on a direct shot in the 71st minute. Toluca did lose Enrique Triverio in extra time at the end of the game for 2 Amarillas in the game, meaning Rojas! HE GONE! He’ll have to sit our next week. Also of concern for Tigres has to be that they are hardly getting any production out of their usual scorers-like in the Apertura Andre-Pierre Gignac is in a major early funk with only an assist so far, making his postseason run last time out seem like a fluke. Since leading the league in scoring in the Clausura 2016 he has just 5 regular season goals since. Only Ismael Sosa & Lucas Zelarayan have scored for Tigres so far, both have 2 goals and they all came in round 1, making this 4 straight games Ricardo Feretti’s squad has not scored. They’re also 0-3-1 since that round 1 win.
