Clausura 2017 Round 5 Results, Monterrey 1, Necaxa 1

Monterrey managed to remain one of two unbeaten teams so far this tournament yesterday, but it’s not helping much in the standings. Why? Because their 5th straight unbeaten game happened to be their 4th straight tie, this time 1-1 at Necaxa. Monterrey scored first on Rogelio Funes Mori’s 38th minute goal, but Necaxa tied it up in the 51st minute on Claudio Riano’s goal for the final score. And another unexpected side note from the game-no cards. That’s not like Necaxa! But maybe it is playing a part in their second-tournament struggle after a surprise underdog run last tournament and is threatening to drop them into the demotion zone.
