Clausura 2017 Round 5 Results: Veracruz 2, Jaguares 0

In the latest battle of teams desperate to avoid demotion, Veracruz got back on track after having its 2-game winning streak snapped with a 2-0 home win over Jaguares. After Veracruz was denied on several previous shots, Eduardo Herrera broke through in the 48th minute to put the Tiburones Rojos up 1-0. Kristian Alvarez headed in an insurance goal in the 82nd minute for the final margin. In the 85th minute Jaguares assistant coach Rene Garcia apparently lost his cool following a warning given to Jonathan Fabbro and…Rojas! HE GONE! Garcia will now have at least a week to chill out. But a short week at that as Jaguares will play their scheduled-way-afterwards Round 1 matchup with America Tuesday (this was planned when the tournament schedule was released).
