So close…after a tumultuous week for Puebla that saw their previous head coach leave following a winless first 4 weeks of the tournament, new coach Jose Cardozo almost led them to their first win of the tournament. Almost. But Atlas spoiled the potential victory in end-of-game stoppage time after Puebla broke a scoreless game open late, forcing the hosts to settle for a 1-1 tie. The game was scoreless until the 86th minute when Francisco Acuna scored to give Puebla the lead and seemingly the victory, but there were 3 minutes of stoppage time played at the end of the game…and right before the end of said time, Martin Barragan headed it in to get Atlas on the board and a point, denying Puebla 2 points and their first win. And considering how Puebla had the edge in offensive stats, this one hurts.
