Enrique Bonilla Presser Notes 1/18

Earlier today the Executive Chairman of Liga Bancomer MX & Liga ASCENSO MX, Enrique Bonilla, held a press conference pertaining to an ongoing dispute between the Club Jaguares de Chiapas & player Egidio Arevalo Rios. This apparently was a dispute over the player not being paid his salary in a timely manner, and there were reportedly some 129 such disputes between players & Jaguares during the Apertura 2016 tournament. All but two had been ersolved before the Clausura 2017 began, those left pertained to Rios. They should both be completed by February 24. In a media Q&A after the presser, Bonilla noted that non-payments of the debts could have led to punishment including Jaguares being excluded from the Clausura 2017. Bonilla also reportedly asked the manager/owner of Jaguares to sell the club for next season.
Bonilla also ¬†touched on the incidents involving players the first 2 weeks, namely Diego Novaretti’s actions and the reported Pumas-Cruz Azul spitting incident this past weekend (Novaretti was suspended 6 games, the Pumas-Cruz Azul incident saw no action taken due to insufficient evidence). He noted the league was against such acts of indiscipline and they also try to be good examples to millions of children. When there is sufficient evidence, as in the case of Novaretti, action is taken & sanctions are issued.
