Clausura 2017 Round 2 Results: Toluca 2, America 1

The second game of the Sunday tripleheader lineup featured a celebratory atmosphere in Toluca as the home team was celebrating it’s 100th anniversary, and they sent the fans home happy with a 2-1 win over America. All the scoring came in the first half-Gabriel Hauche put Toluca ahead first in the 11th minute, but Michael Arroyo got America even on a PENAL! That came in the 22nd minute when Toluca’s Osvaldo Gonzalez drew the first of many Amarillas between both teams and a penalty kick was awarded. But Toluca retook the lead for good when Jesus Mendez put the Red Devils back ahead in the 27th minute. Toluca had a chance to increase the margin when they were awarded a PENAL of their own in the final minutes, but Fernando Uribe’s shot was read correctly by the goalie and the save made.
