Clausura 2017 Round 2 Results: Pachuca 1, Jaguares 0

Because of some weird scheduling quirk that seems to happen once a year or twice a year, Jaguares has to wait a week to either start their tournament or play a game midweek. This time around it meant their round 1 game was pushed back a month so they played their first game in round 2-maybe not much better a scenario because instead of opening against America, they had to go to Pachuca. And based on today, they gave it a good effort but are going to start where they were most of last tournament-last, as they were shut out 1-0. Although the only goal was scored by Ruben Botto in the 41st minute, Pachuca had a commanding 8-4 edge in shots but both sides each made a couple of saves that otherwise could have led to more goals. Jaguares could have used them as while it’s only one game for them so far, they are quickly losing ground in the demotion race to Veracruz & Morelia and if this keeps up they could be the one going down a rung in about 5 months.
