Late yesterday just before the semifinal game started, Morelia put out a press release announcing the hiring of Pablo Marini as their new coach, taking over for the upcoming Clausura 2017 tournament. Originally from Argentina, the soon-to-be 50-year-old Marini has 12 years of coaching experience mostly in Liga MX-his accolades include the 2006 Campeon de Campeones title with Toluca, an impressive Bicentenario 2010 Tournament run as Technical Department head for Jaguares, a 2010-11 campaign with Pachuca that included participating in the World Cup, and taking Puebla to the playoffs in 2015-2016 for the first time in 6 years. He also won the 2016 MX Supercopa with Veracruz. He will be introduced Tuesday at Estadio Morelos and tasked with helping Monarcas avoid demotion at the end of the Clausura 2017, as they will enter the tournament last in the ratio table and in need of an outstanding campaign to get into the top 12 and the safety zone.
