Apertura 2016 Playoffs: America 1, Guadalajara 0

In the second leg of the Clasico playoff matchup between America & Guadalajara, history repeated itself for the second straight tournament-good for America, bad for Guadalajara as the host Chivas are done after a 1-0 America win. It was very intense and physical on both sides with 20 fouls called between the two teams and America managing to stave off 10 Guadalajara corner kicks and keep them off the board. The only goal was Oribe Peralta’s perfect header off a corner kick in the 54th minute. It gave America the 2-1 Aggregate victory and means they eliminate Guadalajara from the playoffs for the second straight tournament (they also did the deed in the Clausura 2016 playoffs). Now America will wait for tonight’s result to see who they play in the semifinals-if Pachuca advances, America will face Tigres. If Necaxa advances, America faces them instead.
