Apertura 2016 Round 17 Results: Queretaro 2, Tigres 1

With the door left wide open to sneak in and steal the regular season championship, Tigres came into today’s matchup in control of their own fate. But their roar was not very loud as they suffered a surprise 2-1 loss at home to Queretaro. Queretaro took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a Yerson Candelo goal in the 42nd minute, then Camilo Da Silva gave the Blancos a 2-0 advantage with a 78th minute score. Andy Delort’s 85th minute strike got Tigres on the board but it would be too little too late. With Pachuca playing to a tie just after this game ended, it means Tigres will have to settle for #3 going into the playoffs while Pachuca gets #2 with their point, and despite their upset loss Tijuana will be the regular season champions.
