Apertura 2016 Round 17 Results: Guadalajara 1, Necaxa 1

In the final game of the night, Necaxa had a chance to punch its postseason ticket in its first tournament since its latest promotion to the premier division. But like every other team with a big chance this weekend, they couldn’t finish the job, only managing a 1-1 tie at Guadalajara. Los Rayos started well with Fernando Meza putting them ahead in the 13th minute, but Alan Pulido got the Chivas even in the 32nd minute. And then perhaps hurting Necaxa was another What The Puch moment-the fiery Edson Puch then picked up Amarillas in the 35th minute then again in the 40th minute, and the second one means Rojas! HE GONE! He forced Necaxa to play a man down for 54 minutes including stoppage time at the end. Puch also will be automatically suspended at least one game, confirmation of how many games will come early next week. With the tie, Guadalajara finishes 4th and will play America in the Gran Fiesta quarterfinals. Necaxa sits 6th and is all but in but still could be knocked out if both Pumas and Toluca win tomorrow, but should that happen they appear to have the tiebreaker over Leon (goal differential-they played to a 0-0 tie).
